My Father would tell me story's of the bravery of William Angus, because where my Father's Back Garden stopped over the Wooden Fence would be the end of this Great Hero's Garden, my Father lived in Brown Street, Carluke and William Angus lived in Newbarns Street, Carluke and in the hot Summer months they would talk for hours over that Wooden Fence and although my Father was very much younger, William Angus spoke with him very often and all that was said between them, my father passed down to me, Yes, "There is not a greater deed that a man can do than lay down his own life for his fellow man" Many times when I visit my parents grave in Wilton Cemetry in carlike, I always go to the grave of this Great Hero and say a prayer for him, R.I.P. William Angus, Carluke and Scotland shall never forget you.

Proud of my kin and honored to bear the name William Angus. Looking for fellow Angus family members while tracing my family roots.

I am so proud. I played the Last Post and Reveille today (Friday 12th June 2015). It was a very important event celebrating the 100 years since his brave act. Proud to Scottish AND from Carluke!

A wonderfully heroic and human story from a ghastly time in history. Thanks to the BBC website for guiding me back to this website to remind me of this remarkable man.

As Head teacher of St Athanasius Primary here in Carluke, William Angus is an inspiration to all young people in Carluke. Our children have learned a great deal from reading about William Angus.
